That's how many books Sami Yutzy, PMSC member serving at Somerset School District's Eagle View Elementary, helped to collect for her MLK day service project.
These books took some serious muscle to get loaded into not one, but two SUVs! Sami will work to distribute books to local libraries and youth programs in Somerset County.

Spreading the joy ✨ of the season, PMSC AmeriCorps Members volunteered for a second year helping families and distributing toys through the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program. 🚂
PMSC AmeriCorps Members Maddie Shaw and Senda Harvey lent a helping hand at this year’s distribution project. Their smiling faces reflect the magic that was created during this special time of giving.
Last year in our region, 955 families and 2,300 children were served with holiday cheer and more importantly- TOYS!!!! Families from Blair, Cambria, Indiana, and Jefferson counties were served and PMSC AmeriCorps Members couldn't have been more eager to show up and support the mission. Spreading good tidings, one toy at a time.

PMSC Member Highlight
New PMSC member Addison Kelble is already experiencing the rewarding feeling that comes with serving as an AmeriCorps member. Addison is serving in Pittsburgh with Three Rivers Waterkeeper. Some of her time is spent enjoying the outdoors conducting ecological surveys of plants, animals, and macroinvertebrates. Her work in this data collection will allow organizations like Three Rivers Waterkeeper to identify pollution and pollution sources to ultimately clean the land and waterways for future generations to continue to enjoy.
Addison heard about the opportunities with AmeriCorps through her partner, who served with the Boys and Girls Club, and said how much of a great experience it was. So far, it seems like Addison is having the same experience. When asked about her AmeriCorps time serving this far, she shared, “I have loved getting to continue my work with 3RWK and working with a passionate and intelligent group of people. I have found my time serving so rewarding, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings.”
After AmeriCorps, Addison would like to continue working in the environmental non-profit field, especially in the Pittsburgh region with such unique and diverse ecosystems. Plus, the view from the field is pretty awesome too!
