PMSC’s East Region Coordinator, Heather Kennedy, recently completed a leadership development opportunity called: Leadership Blair County based on James Hunter’s book, The World’s Most Powerful Leadership Principle, How to Become a Servant Leader. According to the Altoona Mirror, Kennedy represented PMSC AmeriCorps in this unique program “designed to develop and enhance community leadership by preparing individuals from diverse backgrounds to assume more active roles in addressing community needs.”
Afforded with the opportunity to study local history and heritage, government, human services organizations, diversity, economic development, justice and law enforcement, and strategic planning, Heather will now put new skills to work in Getting Things Done for Western and Southcentral, PA. Working to foster productive partnerships with local business leaders, law enforcement, and youth leaders in the surrounding 15 counties, Kennedy will utilize the power of servant leadership to effect lasting positive impacts in the region.
The 2022 cohort already raised $30,000 to create a sensory room for children with special needs at the Wright Place for Kids in Altoona for the Nehemiah Project. There is no doubt that Ms. Kennedy is endeavoring to “Bring Out the Best of America” and Western/Southcentral, PA!
