The Pennsylvania Mountain Service Corps, PMSC, a local initiative of the AmeriCorps program, recognizes the selfless service of their AmeriCorps members on National Service Recognition Day.
AmeriCorps has designated Tuesday, April 6, 2021 as National Service Recognition Day. AmeriCorps annually engages millions of Americans in service at more than 45,000 locations through AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and other programs. National Service members address some of the nation’s most pressing issues including recovering from natural disasters, restoring parks, and other recreational venues, strengthening public safety, and tutoring and mentoring disadvantaged youth.
As the local AmeriCorps program, PMSC serves a 13 county area of southwest and southcentral Pennsylvania, having engaged thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds in National Service. PMSC provides service opportunities through nonprofit or government organizations in education, environmental stewardship, and community wellness. Currently, PMSC has 70 AmeriCorps members serving at 44 different host sites throughout our region.
AmeriCorps has put together promotional materials, including graphics, a toolkit, and sample language for sharing purposes. Those resources can be found by clicking the button below. We are encouraging all of our local leaders to help us spread the word about AmeriCorps and the amazing people who choose to serve their communities.
