Getting Things Done

The habitat building project is the first of a three-year project to provide fish spawning habitats throughout the lake and subsequently improve fishing opportunities The fish habitats were loaded onto boats and dropped at strategic locations around the Quemahoning Lake.
AmeriCorps member Matt Shawley worked with area High School students to construct and install a handicapped fishing pier at the Quemahoning Reservoir in Somerset County
AmeriCorps members of the Kiski-Conemaugh Stream Team help to lift one of the fish habitat structures at the Quemahoning Reservoir on October 4, 2007. The project was sponsored by the PA Fish & Boat Commission’s Adopt a Lake program and the Cambria-Somerset Authority.
The Somerset Conservation District organized local high school students who learned about the importance of fish habitats, as they assisted with construction and placment of fish shelters.
