week mission is to:

member driven committee has put together a week of service, recognition,
and celebration . Please join us at a service project; help us recognize
members, alumni and community service partners; and celebrate the
spirit of national service in our community. |

Cleanup of
a walking path from the Folk Festival Park to the Cambria Iron Works
Pedestrian Bridge, following the Conemaugh River. Cleanup will be
light – work description includes: picking up litter/debris,
sweeping/removal of gravel, weeding and further work may include planting
of flowers, mulching and trimming of shrubbery. Starting time for
the cleanup is at 10 a.m. and will last until 2 p.m. – but may
end earlier depending on the amount of people. Afterward, I will open
the Historic Cambria Iron Works Blacksmith Shop for an opportunity
for you to look around and see a historic building block of Johnstown,
as well as the nation |

Tuesday,

|
PMSC members will be conducting
classroom activities with approximately 50 kindergarten students at
a local school in Cambria County. The classroom activity will incorporate
a discussion about plant growth, reading the Up, Down, and Around
book by Katherine Ayres, and a hands-on activity that includes
growing beans. Each student will receive a book to take home and a
bean to grow.

at the Art
Works in Johnstown, PA. We will honor community partners,
recognize AmeriCorps members, and watch multi-media presentations
of AmeriCorps activities in our region.

PMSC members will be collaborating
with the Boy Scout's Pennswoods Council to assist with the preparation
of Camp Seph Mack in Indiana County. Members will be clearing debris,
painting, doing minor repairs, etc.

Mall in Johnstown. We will have an information booth with applications
for new members and community sponsors, and information on community
volunteer opportunities |

Cleanup-up of the Jim
Mayer Trail in the Moxham neighborhood of Johnstown. This will be
on Saturday, May 17th from 10 am to 1 pm. We'll meet at the Jim Mayer
Trailhead on Bridge Street in Moxham.Moxham Renaissance is coordinating
the project and it's part of the Great PA Cleanup. Gloves, vests and
refreshments will be provided for volunteers. Volunteers will be removing
trash, cutting down Japanese knotweed (invasive plant), and other
light trail maintenance. |

The Pasquerilla
Performing Arts Center , on the UPJ Campus in Johnstown,
has a performance of 100 Years of Broadway on SATURDAY, MAY 17th
at 7:30 PM (this will not interfere with trail cleanup)and we are
looking for SIX (6) volunteers.Volunteer positions include two (2)
greeters/ticket takers, two(2) ushers, and two(2) people to sit
at an AmeriCorps information table.You can wear your AmeriCorps
shirts for the event. You will also get to see the show for FREE
if you volunteer. Volunteers will need to arrive at 6:45 PM for
a brief training of how ushering works at the Arts Center. |

members will lead the plantings in and around the city. |
